ENGLISH ACADEMY
English is an international language and it acts as a medium of communication for people of different nations. Moreover, English serves as an efficient tool for internal trade and Information Technology offering immense scope for employment and human resource development. Hence, there is a growing necessity to train the future leaders and professionals in English. English Academy in SJS fulfills this need very effectively. The main aim is to develop and improve language skill and also to improve the student’s cultural moorings and to build up their character formation. Programmes like skit, poetry, drama, spelling game and recitation are organized to create interest in the language and to better their pronunciation and diction. Such events develop the students' ability to communicate and also foster aesthetic sense. Academy gives students not only marketable communication skills but also an understanding of the history and development of western civilization.

TAMIL SANGAM
Mother tongue plays a vital roll in education and in strengthening the cultural bond of the students. Hence, Tamil Sangam functions in our school to create awareness in students about the rich heritage of Tamil culture and to savour the beautify of their mother tongue through various activities such as poetry, drama, essay competitions, debates and Humour sessions . The annual celebration of “Muththamizh Vizha” and Pongal in January is an event never to be missed in SJS. The members of Tamil Sangam leave no stones turned up to bring honour and laurels to the mother tongue.

YOUNG SCIENTISTS' UNION
The scientific temper of the students is nurtured by the innovative programmes of the Young Scientists’ Union. Their display board presents every week the latest discoveries and achievements in the field science. They also maintain an Herbal Park in the school campus. Their annual Science Exhibition is a much appreciated event in and around the town. In 2005 they celebrated Einstein Centenary and Year of Physics in a very fitting and creative manner with a grand exhibition and workshop of the young scientific minds.

GREEN CORPS
Green Corps are interested in maintaining the school and surrounding green. They celebrate in July “Green Grow Festival” to bring awareness by planting trees not only in our school campus but also in the nearby villages. Our students and staffs sponsore trees. Students learned the guidelines given by the chief guest in 2007 Mr. Srinivasan, Co-ordinator, Exnora, Vellore, to sort our the solid wastes and to make profit out of the bio-waste by making organic manure. Students visited the nearby gypsy colony and gave awareness to the people to maintain the surroundings neat and tidy. Herbal garden is one of the hallmarks of the Green Corps. Students have been informed by this group to know about the “Green House Effect” and its repercussions on the world.

SOCIAL SCIENCE FORUM (SSF)
Social Science Forum organizes many programmes regarding social issues. The members conduct exhibition, workshops and seminars on various themes in geography and history. Star-Watch is encouraged and members take keen interest in observing the stars and study about them. SSF is also concerned about the social problems and organises debates, literary competitions on the issues connected with the society.

“Where there is a will there is a way”. This club conduct various competitions and last year received the reorganization of excellent performance of their cultural programmes linking computer with fine arts. RED RIBBON CLUB (RRC)
The aim of the Red Ribbon Club is to create and raise awareness about HIV/AIDS through service, educational and philanthropic events. The members distribute red ribbons, information cards and safer sex kits to the public. Red Ribbon Club has regular programmes to bring awareness to the students about AIDS and other Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD).

SHINE Academy is a nursery for those who want to dream and to fly higher. It aspires to create in the young minds a thirst for excellence and direct them to achieve it.
